FIS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Make a working copy of the original FIS diskette and put the original
aside for backup. To make a working diskette: Enter DISKCOPY A: A:
and follow instructions on the screen.
FOR HARD DISKS:
Insert the working diskette into drive A:, type A:AINSTALL and press
Enter. After the installation is complete, select SYSTEM SETUP on
the MAINTENANCE menu, enter your company information, and you are
ready to print your own professional invoices. After terminating
the program (EXIT), simply type FIS and press Enter to run the
program again.
To install from drive B:, type B:BINSTALL and press Enter. Then
follow the remaining instructions above.
NOTE: The normal installation procedure creates a subdirectory
on the C: drive ( C:\FISYS ) and copies the program and
help file into it. If this is not satisfactory, create a
subdirectory on the disk drive of your choice and copy the
program and help file into the new subdirectory.
COPY A:FIS.* (desired full path name)
The data files are created when the program is first run.
FOR 1 DISKETTE DRIVE:
Insert the working diskette, type FIS1 and press Enter to start the
program. (You may delete the following files from the working
diskette to free up additional space for data files: ?INSTALL.BAT,
BIS.BAT, FIS2.BAT, README.*)
FOR 2 DISKETTE DRIVES:
Insert the working diskette into drive A:, and a formatted diskette
to be used for the FIS data files into drive B:. Type FIS2 and
press Enter to start the program.
------------------------------------------------------------------
The DOS configuration file CONFIG.SYS is a file that allows you to
set your computer's default configuration at startup time. The only
setting that FIS may require to be changed is the FILES setting,
which tells DOS the maximum number of files that may be open at a
given time. This setting must be at least 20 (FILES=20) for FIS and
many other programs. If FIS terminates with a message that there
are too many files, you will need to set the FILES= command in the
CONFIG.SYS file to at least 20. Refer to your DOS manual in the
CONFIG.SYS section for instructions on how to set FILES=20.
